Always lots of fun!

Henry and I continue to have lots of fun together, though it is apparent why I never feel rested! But I guess you can rest when you are old, right!?

As usual we started out bright and early. The dogs actually surprised me by behaving really well on our walk at the park this morning, I'm sure they were just hot. Oh but no, I skip the first part of my morning... Turn away if you are fed up with poop stories... We began as normal, I greet Henry with a cup of milk which he drinks like he hasn't drunk in weeks. I change his nappy. As we have done on many occasion, and no, this is not the first time this has happened to me, so you would think I would have learned by now, I left him with out a nappy while we go out onto the deck to hang up the nappies from last nights wash. He just loves to help me hang them on the rack, which in itself is adorable. He even loves taking the clean ones out of the washing machine and putting them in the basket almost climbing into the machine to get the ones at the back. In my defense, I think carefree skin time is good for babies bottoms. You guessed it, he did a big squishy poo as he was crawling along, so he walked in it a little too. So I scooped him up and plopped him in the shower and all was fixed in minutes. The best part of it all is, I knew I wouldn't have to clean it up since I figured the dogs would find it and sure enough, when we came back outside there was no poo poo to be seen. Ick.

We played inside a little while then cycled to visit the Ozeren's across town and had a good old play at their house. He fell asleep on the ride home, which is something he hasnt done since he was little. I even left him in the stroller outside of the farmers market when I popped in to buy milk. He woke up briefly when I took him out of the stroller at home but I laid him down in his bed and he was asleep again in minutes. He slept til 2pm so we had a really late lunch! But no one can pass up grilled cheeses and spaghetti hoops now can they!

We cycled to the pool and had a little splash around. He is really into diving into the pool and swimming with his face in the water at the moment, so all the other parents watch in awe as this little baby plunges himself head first into the pool and they can't get their 4 year old to put their face in.

No progress on the walking front, since that's all anyone seems to ask me about. Gees folks, he will walk when he walks! He is really into waving good bye and giving kisses at the moment and was entertained for at least 20 minutes today placing pieces of paper into Papa's dress shoes. I think he would have done it longer except our lunch was ready. He has great dexterity now and can put his Lego together with ease. Oh and he threw the mouse on the floor so I am back to the stupid i-thingy. Ugh.

He loves to skype his Papa and I am really excited to see what he does Friday when he finally comes home. Don't you worry, Papa has been clearly informed that no trips of this length will ever be occurring again. We miss him too much.

No news on the belly front. Still got a wretched stomach with pains that just will not go away. Though Danny did remind me my stomach behaved the same way with Henry. I have talked him into not finding out the gender, so you must all wait in suspense too! And we are taking names for suggestion...

I want to ride my bicycle!

Muscle recognition is amazing!

I rode my bike for the first time in almost two years today! As scared as I was, it was awesome! I only rode to Clear Creek; not back! 18 miles in an hour, so incredibly, I kept a fantastic (though surprising) pace.

It worked out great...I fed my little man, burped him and then got ready. Rode out there, of course my chain came off up a hill in the rain! Met Danny at the lake and fed my little man again! The boys went mountain biking whilst Henry and I splashed our feet in the lake and walked the dogs.

I was anxious. In fact Danny had to force me out the door! Expectations are high when going back to something you used to be really good at, especially since fitness is so important to me. So needless to say, I was pleased with my pace, though Im sure Ill be feeling the pain tomorrow!

Just one more month until Henry can ride in his trailer! Dont know how much Ill get out until then as every time Danny is home during the week, there are house chores for me to do, but perhaps he can cook dinner one night!

20 weeks pregnant!

20 weeks.

5 months.

Half-way!

Its hard to imagine I am already half-way through the pregnancy of our first child, and that it seems like Ive been pregnant forever!

Ive learned a few things recently.

I finally look pregnant! But Ive learned that in order for other people to realise that Im pregnant and dont just have a beer-belly, I have to dress in a certain way. I was wearing baggy, loose clothing, but this just makes me look short and fat. I guess I am these things, but Im fat for a reason; a reason Im proud of. Ive discovered that if you wear a tighter top, but Im not talking lycra, skin-tight, stretching at the seams tight, just form fitting, or tie looser sweaters under the boobs or wear empire waists, it actually makes you look pregnant when you want to.

Ive learned that two pillows stuffed behind your back really helps back ache when you sit at a desk all day, and that two pillows between your legs when you sleep stops your hips hurting.

Ive learned that small dinners are the only way forward.

Ive learned that I cannot run more than a mile without crippling my feet. This was an important thing to learn last friday, as I have now had to explore other forms of exercise.

Which leads to learning that even if I had wanted to still be riding my bike to work and around town, I would not be able to. I worked out on a stationary bike at the gym, which was really fun, but I tried to lean foward to grab the other handle bars and I couldnt reach because I would squish my belly. So unless I bought a cruiser bike, I cant ride any of my current bikes, and Im just not ready to spend money on a bike I dont really want for a few months of use.

I have learned that baby doesnt like mummy to have quiet time, but at least I learned this lesson early! When ever I sit down to relax is when Munch decides it wants to party. Its fun and I love it, Im not complaining at all, I just realised last night in a yoga class that it was rather perfectly timed. We sat down cross-legged and closed our eyes to get in the right place for the class and Munch was playing football with something down there. Then in the resting pose at the end, during which I almost fell asleep, Munch was turning somersaults! Both instances made me smile and definitely lightened my mood, so I guess helped me relax after all!

I have learned how much is too much for my shared body and how insanely important drinking water is. Sunday we went shopping in Memphis and since we were just wandering round, I forgot to drink. Then I just collapsed onto a bench and made Danny go get some water which I downed in seconds, before feeling much better! And Monday I had to take a break and get a snack after cleaning all morning, ending with mopping the kitchen floor.

Ive learned that ridiculous things make me cry and I cant stop until Danny cuddles me. Such as finding that he had left one sock out of the laundry basket on the floor at the weekend, only to realise that I had washed the darks without that one sock and now had an odd sock. Well that and the fact that Danny joked that it was my fault that the sock wasnt in the laundry. After some hysterical fits of tears, I managed to explain that I already feel inadequate, not being able to do all of the things I have always done and that being reminded of that, even in jest, just makes me feel more inadequate and useless. So hopefully jokes like this wont be made again!

I have learned that afternoon naps will change your world!

I have learned that there is masses and masses of baby crap out there that you have to filter through and determine what you actually need. And that still baby stuff is just so expensive. But that making registries is really fun! I have made one at Target and Amazon, with a little tiny list at Babies R Us.

Oh, so I have also learned that Babies R Us is about 30% more expensive than anywhere else you can buy baby stuff.

Ive learned that my dogs most definitely know there is something different about me. Tux, my large Rottweiller type dog used to paw at my stomach before I was pregnant, but now he will only paw my shoulder or my thigh (when Im sitting down - he isnt that big!). Mojo, my smaller, fluffier dog doesnt usually jump up at people, but often has these hyper-excited episodes where he runs circles around the house barking in his play tone. The other day he did go to jump on me and before Danny could even yell at him, he spread his legs out and kinda splatted into me with the side of his face because after he started to jump, he realised he couldnt hit me! So cute! How do they know these things.

During the 21st week of pregnancy the baby is producing blood cells through its own bone marrow and practicing eating amniotic fluid, from which it can even digest sugars (tasty!). I can look forward to varicose veins and urinary tract infections. Speaking of, I have also learned that if you lean forward after you think you are done peeing, more pee comes out, helping to prevent that lovely UTI!

At this stage of pregnancy I feel great! Exercising is fun, though requires longer recovery time and more stretching afterwards. If I stay up a little later than I want to, I sleep much better throughout the night.

oh and as far as pictures of the bump go, I should be able to post one tomorrow. We took some pictures in a hurry Tuesday lunchtime so Im just waiting for him to send one to me! I must warn you though, there isnt too much to see right now! Perhaps Munch is shy.

The Irony of it...

More about why I was driving toward town at 745am this morning later, but guess who I was driving behind at that very same 3-way this morning! Yes, you guessed it, Mister Grumpy! So if you know anyone with a gold F150 whose number plate is LX6 831 then please, please lecture him on the Highway Code! Or just shout abuse at him when you see him driving around town!

Road rage?

This is in honour of the nasty man on his way into town from Clear
Creek early this afternoon.

I was riding back from CC and was almost to the 3-way where you would turn left to get to College Hill. This old guy with his obese wife in the passenger seat of his gold Ford pickup, honked his horn three times and yelled "get out of the damn road", as he drove past me. If you are going to exhibit road rage to a cyclists, dont do it when you are about to have to stop at a 3-way. So of course I caught up to him and yelled "I dont think so" as I went past. I ended up three cars ahead of him. Then when the other cars had passed me again, I obnoxiously pulled out into the middle of my lane and proceeded to ride there, taking up as much room as I could! So he rode behind me laying on his horn from about 100 yards past the 3-way to the top of that small hill on the way back into town (about 3-5 minutes for those that dont know). As he finally went passed (my ears were ringing) I gave him the biggest smile I could muster, teeth and all. If you are going to be ignorant, sir, I shall be obnoxious! Share the road!

I hope no one else was riding in town at that time and had to deal
with him.
